corvus
The custom single-family home on Mercer Island, named "Corvus" (Latin for Raven), overlooks Lake Washington with stunning views of the Seattle skyline and Seward Park. The name reflects the black cedar siding and the butterfly roof form reminiscent of a blackbird's wings.
The great room features floor-to-ceiling glazing and an expansive deck that floats above the steep hillside. A custom sculptural steel stair with warm oak accents serves as a focal point, while oversized pocketing doors behind the stair create a dynamic connection between the living area and the adjacent library. Furnishings were selected alongside the custom artwork and interior finishes throughout to compliment the stunning view. Upstairs, the primary suite repeats the great room's oversized pocketing doors, connecting the primary bedroom and bath. The homeowners sought a dynamic design where every space offered the opportunity to connect with one another.
